Who am I?

Cameras have fascinated me since I was little. The sound of the shutter, that little “click”, is like gentle music to my ears.

The first camera I played with was an old one belonging to my mum. “Played” is the right word: there was no film inside and I simply pretended. A few years later, at fourteen, I won my first camera in a competition. Finally, a camera with film! At eighteen I received my first compact camera, followed by others, before buying my first DSLR when my eldest child was born. Digital photography made learning more accessible and strengthened my passion.

Even so, it took me time to dare to believe in myself. When I was younger, concerts were my favourite subject. Since becoming a mum, I have been captivated by children, their expressions and spontaneous gestures. After years of photographing for myself and those close to me, I chose to turn this passion into my profession.

Today, I welcome you to my Ilse D. Photography studio in Mouscron or accompany you outdoors. You don’t need to know how to pose: I offer simple guidance while leaving space for the gestures, glances and emotions that truly reflect you.
